I spent the weekend with Toby Keith in Oklahoma for the new season of Sammy’s Rock & Roll Road Trip – had a blast with the interview, playing some songs, driving around in a ’73 Oldsmobile cutlass convertible. One of my favorite episodes, can’t wait!

Until just now, I had no idea that it was 40 years ago “Nine On A Ten Scale" came out!

This was my first solo record and I was so excited to be able to do whatever I wanted in the studio. I was really into Van Morrison at the time and more about being a singer/songwriter than a front man in a metal band like Montrose. Looking back, it was a disjointed record, but I had some great players on there: Jerry Shirley from Humble Pie, Aynsley Dunbar from Bowie and later Journey, and of course none other than Bill "The Electric" Church, and even Jimmy Hodder from Steely Dan. "Keep on Rockin'" ended up in the movie "The Rose" with Bette Midler about Janis Joplin, but the album failed to do very well. It was my first album to be taken out of print – because of a management change Capital Records had to stop promoting the record to prevent a lawsuit. I immediately went back in the studio to record the Red album, which was my first gold solo record. "Silver Lights" has got to be my favorite song on "Nine On A Ten Scale".

Ps: The title was an earthquake calculation, not my scoring of the album! Haha!

UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS is the new home for "SAMMY HAGAR’s Top Rock Countdown," which has been on the air for exactly one year, and was formerly produced and distributed by the ENVISAGE RADIO GROUP, with ad sales handled by USRN.

HAGAR and TC MANAGEMENT have pacted with UNITED STATIONS to oversee all network functions for the program going forward, according to UNITED STATIONS EVP/Programming ANDY DENEMARK and TC MANAGEMENT’s TOM CONSOLO.

"SAMMY HAGAR's Top Rock Countdown" airs for two hours each weekend on more than 90 rock radio stations, including such legendary call letters as WLUP/CHICAGO, KSHE/ST. LOUIS and KGON/PORTLAND, OR. The two-hour show is programmed thematically each week as HAGAR presents his Top 20 songs related to the subject matter of his choice.

"SAMMY HAGAR’s Top Rock Countdown" joins a UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS lineup of that includes programs hosted by ALICE COOPER, STEVEN VAN ZANDT, LOU BRUTUS and RIKI RACHTMAN. The NEW YORK-based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers DICK CLARK and NICK VERBITSKY.

Tonight, Monday May 23rd, Dead & Company will be playing a free concert at The Fillmore and a few days ago Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann invited me to come down to rehearsal.

We played a few songs together (see video below) and they asked me to sit in at the show, which is gonna be a blast! I'll sing a song or two (probably including Loose Lucy) and this is going to be big!!

Who is coming to the Dead show? Redhead Dead Heads represent!
