Sammy returns for the second half of Season 2 of "Rock & Roll Road Trip" with more great guests including Don Felder, Styx, Run DMC, Vince Neil, Chad Smith, Shep Gordon, and more! New episodes start July 9th on AXS TV!

The upcoming cycle kicks off on July 9, as Sammy heads to Sin City to cruise the Strip with Eagles legend Don Felder in a classic Cadillac, share some laughs with Carrot Top, and hang out with rock superstars STYX backstage at the Venetian Theater before bringing the house down with a raucous “Hotel California” jam. Other highlights include Sammy performing Chickenfoot hits with Chad Smith and Joe Satriani at his studio in San Francisco (July 16); a trip to Nashville to visit with heavy metal icon Vince Neil, and an acoustic set at the world-famous Phoenix Studios (July 23); an intimate dinner at SUPERMENSCH superstar Shep Gordon’s home in Maui, featuring an all-star jam with Sammy, Mick Fleetwood, Willie K., and more (July 30); a front row seat to the World’s Biggest Music Festival, SXSW, where Sammy is honored as a keynote speaker, and performs an unforgettable rock-rap jam with hip-hop pioneer and RUN DMC founder Darryl McDaniels (August 6); and a season finale event that finds Sammy sitting down with the multi-talented Adam Levine to talk about his eclectic career (August 13).

Acoustic 4 A Cure is becoming so much more than I originally thought it could be. It’s taking on a life of its own and the artists are bringing it big time. I’ve seen so much love coming off that stage and I know the fans feel it to! There’s something about doing things for the right reason that makes it even more special. The artists are not being paid, they donate their time and talent and you can feel it from each and everyone of them. Everyone keeps asking me which year has been your favorite and I guess the only way to answer that is to say ‘hopefully next year’ ha! Every year I say there is no way we are going to top that. I’m humbled by the fan reaction and the artists that have given so much. All I can say is: thank you, thank you, thank you, and see you next year!

Kari and I decided to take a trip to the Kentucky Derby for the first time with some friends. The weekend kicked off Friday night at the pre-derby party/charity event! Lots of athletes and movie celebs, from Jeff Bridges to Tom Brady attended, joined by Kelly Clarkson, Travis Tritt, Kid Rock, and the Boys 2 Men gang plus others. Not my usual kind of gala but it was successful and packed beyond belief. You can see a photo below of Richie Sambora and I before we hit the stage. It was Cabo Wabo style! All the performers were let loose to jam with nothing worked up ahead of time.

It was a long night by the time we got to the race the next day. I Invented a Santo Julep and tried a lot of small batch bourbon and whiskey throughout the weekend. Kari won on a number 7 horse and I won on a number 4 horse! I had a tip for me to bet on number 4 for one of the races, so did and won unbelievably. Pretty cool because we had no idea what we were doing. Quite the experience and one more check on the bucket list!
