Back around 1971 or so I saw Taj Mahal play in San Francisco with Bro when we were in Justice Brothers and he knocked me out.  We had a chance to hang out a little he was a superstar to me since he had actually put out a couple albums already! This past weekend, over 40 years later we reconnected at the Mount Tam Jam festival and it was so cool that he remembered that time.  He just killed it in his set and talked about seeing each other again soon – maybe Cabo, or just next time he's in town. 

Also enjoyed meeting John McCrea from CAKE and finding out he came up on riff rock and he surprised me by calling out Burn In Hell — an deep track from my back catalog.

Sammy takes Martin Truex Jr. and Clint Bowyer for all they've got in some racetrack poker (for a video shoot for the upcoming album), but Martin had the big win, coming in 1st at Sonoma and his 1st victory with Michael Waltrap Racing! – congrats Martin!

What a day out at my local Sonoma Raceway – doing a little video shoot for the new solo album (more on that later) and getting to hang out with my driver buddies – outta sight!

Sammy is excited to announce that he'll be joining Toby Keith at Keith's Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert. Joining them also will be Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood, Ronnie Dunn, Mel Tillis and John Anderson.

This event is taking place July 6 in Norman, Oklahoma in the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium at the University of Oklahoma.

"When Toby asked me to come on board, I immediately said yes!" Hagar said in a release. "He's put together a hell of a concert lineup to help raise funds for the brave and resilient people of Oklahoma. My job is going to be to help them take their minds off their problems and have some much-needed, good old-fashioned fun."

Proceeds from the twister relief benefit will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund to aid recovery efforts. All tickets are $25 and go on sale June 21. Seats are reserved and buyers are limited to an eight- ticket limit.

To further support the May storm recovery efforts, United Way donations are also being accepted online via the United Way home page at www.unitedwayokc.org. To give by credit card, call 405-523-3598, 405-523-3597 or the United Way of Central Oklahoma’s main number at 405-236-8441. Checks may be mailed to the United Way of Central Oklahoma, P.O.
