Coca Cola Starplex

The Red Voodoo Tour

May 28th will be a night I will never forget, talk about awesome!!! Let me
think where to start…First off, I have been on AOL about 2 years now, and
regularly play NTT (name that tune)….its a guess song by lyrics chat
room…and over the span of time have taken alot of flack from fellow
“tuners” about my love of Sammy’s music….lol, I have tried to convert a few
of em…..Anyway, through all this, we “tuners” have become like a little
family, not unlike this list. A fellow “tuner friend” of mine, who I had
never met, lives in Dallas. He knows what a huge Sammy fan I am…

Anyway, he happened to know the guy that was the promoter of the “Big Freaking Deal”…and I asked if he could get my husband and me tickets to the Dallas show….Well…not only did he get us a pair of tickets, he also got us passes to the this place called the Icehouse, there at the Starplex, which is like a little bar, (air conditioned) AND a pair of MEET and GREETS (they could only be won off the Eagle radio station)….I was so nervous!!!!

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity!!!about 30 of us were taken to a small room to wait in to meet Sammy…they lined us up around the room and gave us all a RED VOODOO CD and said “one autograph per person”…after about 5 minutes in came Sammy…(I let out a huge scream!!! I was shaking, I was so excited!!!) I was towards the end of the line…when he was about 1/2 way down the line, I screamed again…he looks over at me and grins…lol…I was so nervous!! Anyway, when he is about 5 people from me, he looks my way and I scream again…he looks at me, shakes his finger and says “I can see you’re gonna be trouble” and gives me one of his huge Sammy grins…I almost fell over!!…He gets to my husband, and I am going nuts!!!he was right in front of me!!!…My husband had on a ballcap from our local little league, and told Sammy that my son (who is 10) is a big fan too, so Sammy signs the cap for my
son, and then signs the pass my husband had on his shirt…THEN!!!!Sammy is standing right in front of me!!! He opens up his arms and gives me a huge
hug!!! It was so awesome!!!

I’m rambling to him about how us Houston
RedHeads waited outside the Hard Rock Cafe without tickets and how they let us in, and how I love his music…and then I’m getting him to sign my new
Sammy shirt I had just gotten…lol…he tried to sign it with this silver
roller ball marker he had, but I insisted he sign it with my RED
sharpie…lol…He signs his name and under it writes RED RULES…I then got TWO more hugs from him!!!! I was shaking like a leaf!!!!, it was awesome!!! Sammy, THANK YOU!!! They wouldn’t let us take any pictures…but, thats ok..LOL!!! Gosh, this is longer than I intended it to be.

The show in Dallas was awesome, had seats about 20 rows back in the center section. From what I had read on the net page, I thought there were gonna be tables and chairs on the stage, there weren’t…There was a group of people behind Sammy on the stage, on like stairs (like the pictures of Cabo Wabo)…I believe they were all contest winners…Sammy opened up with Cabo Wabo going into Revial..he talked to the audience alot!! he also mentioned his “RedHeads” and “NetHeads” several times…his voice was crystal clear last night!!! It was a GREAT show!!! Here is the setlist..I wrote it all down, in order….

Cabo Wabo, Revival, 3 Lock Box, Only One Way To Rock, I’ll Fall In Love Again, Standing On Top Of The World, Rock Candy, High and Dry, Right Now, Both Sides Now, Finish What You Started, Little White Lies, Mas Tequilla, Shag, Why Can’t This Be Love, I Can’t Drive 55, RED, Whole Lotta Love, Bad Motor Scooter, Marching To Mars, and Returning Of The Wish….

He said he wished he could play his regular 3 hours, but that they said he
had to go after playing 2….so, I am guessing that this set list is going to
increase….(sure hope he includes “Heavy Metal” on the 3 hour
nights….lol….and for the Houston show!!!) Thanks for listening to my
rambling, hope you enjoyed reading the post…it was a night I will never
forget and one I will cherish forever!!

Thanks to Donna for the set list!

Hard Rock Cafe Houston

This was a private event.

We were right in front of the stage. We REDheads got pretty obnoxious
waiting for the show to start, signing Mas Tequila VERY loud!!! I’m sure
everyone was wondering who the hell we were! LOL! I wore a red bikini top,
shorts and the yellow Cabo shirt Sammy always wears, and had written in red
marker RED HEAD on my stomach!!! When they all came on stage, David and
Sammy were standing in front of me. David looked down, saw my stomach,
pointed to me and told Sammy to check it out. He looked and laughed,
pointing at me!!!

I had a REDhead banner done, and we all signed it. It
said WWW.REDROCKER.COM, The REDheads Are Here, WWW.WATCHINGYOURBACK.COM, RED
VOODOO. I threw it up after he walked on stage. He held it up for everyone
to see, then tied it around it his waist!!!!! It was the only banner
there…….I couldn’t believe it! Then Kat (Kat M) and I and two of our
other friends, not REDheads, gave him these red bead necklaces with crawfish
on them. I gave mine to Sammy, and he put it on and slapped my hand!!!

Then Kat, Rene and Jana threw theirs up and he put them on Vic, Mona and
Jesse………unfortunately we only had 4……Sammy looked at us for the
fifth one, and we said we only had four!!! He said, “Don’t you guys know
bands usually come with drummers!!!” LOL!!!! Sorry David!!!! Then he
looked down at his, checking out the crawfish, and looked at us and we
yelled RED VOODOO!!! He laughed and gave us the thumbs up! Fans were
giving him Cabo Tequila shots left and right! He got soooooo smashed! He
was cracking us up! He actually forgot part of the words to one of the
songs! I can’t remember which one though. A girl next to me (Sandy)had 2
coozies from Cabo that she got him to sign, and I got him to sign a
promotional poster I had just nabbed from the girl’s bathroom!!

My friends
Rene and Jana have been to Cabo the last 6 years, and did a poster with a
picture of them with Sammy’s brother Bob and his nephew. They also always
bring bottles of Texas made red wine, which they always give to Bob to give
to Sammy. They gave Sammy 2 bottles last night, and told him they were the
ones who always brought it to Cabo for him and gave it to Bob. He said Bob
never gave him any wine!!!! LOL! He also held up the poster and said, “You
know, this isn’t right. I’m the rockstar, and my brother gets all the
p**y!!! Then he walked over to Rene, leaned down, and kissed her right on
the mouth!!! I thought she was going to faint!!! You go girl!!!

Then,
while he was singing “Your Love is Driving Me Crazy”, I held up the Cabo
promotional poster the band had all signed when the show was cancelled, he
came over and took it, looked at it then looked down at me and I said, “I
need yours!”, so he bent down, handed me the microphone so he could keep
signing, and signed it for me!!!!!! Woohooo……….2 autographs in one
night!!!!

Sammy’s the Man!!! He was very good, as usual, about giving
autographs, especially during the last 2 songs. I know most of the REDheads
got one, including Michelle!!! At the end of the show, he acknowledged all
his REDheads, saying we were the best, no one compared to HIS REDheads!!!!
You go Sammy! Needless to say, Sammy and the Waboritas ROCKED the hell out
of Houston! He also announced the next single, “Shag”! And that he’d be
here again June 27!!!! Can’t wait Sammy!!!! See ya there!!!

Thanks to Lanette for this review and Donna for the set list!

All Sports Stadium

The Red Voodoo Tour

WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! What an awesome show Sammy put on last night in Oklahoma City!!!!

We arrived in OKC about 3…headed over to Dennis’ house to meet up with some fellow REDheads. It was great meeting you guys!!! (Dennis, Margie, Maryann, Jeff, Martin, and his nephew.) Dennis, Martin, and man…i’m sorry I can’t remember your nephew’s name Martin…but anyway…….these guys put on a little show for us…we had a jam session at Dennis’ house. THESE guys are so talented…they can downright play guitar!!!! (Dennis….wtf??? why do you have a blue voodoo? Shouldn’t it be red. LOL) I think Dennis can play every Hagar song imaginable….at any rate…they all knew how to riff out some Hagar!!!!!!! It was wesome…could have just listened to you all night!!!! Well Okay……I wanted to hear Sammy play…but if Sammy wasn’t available, you’d do. LOL

Dennis is a man of many talents….Emeril look out!!!! We know who makes all of Emeril’s secret sauces…it’s dennis. Those wings rocked!!!!!! G-man…you ready for a cookoff with Dennis???…cause I tell ya..it’s some pretty stiff competition!!! LOL

Anyway, off to the concert….it was was outstanding!!!!! First off…zen was with me and I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. Well, I was with Paula, waiting at the gate so that she could go backstage and do her business. Mona walked up and said…”what are you
doing over here?” She then opened the fence and pulled Paula in and then kinda reached for me cause she knew I was with Paula. It was awesome!!!! Paula went and talked to Sammy and I was standing outside of the bldg where Sammy was…..and I got the opportunity to talk to jessie and mona and david. Also got to see members of jackyl and the nixons. But the best part of course was when Sammy walked out…I wasn’t going to say anything to him…I was just standing there trying to be cool…cause hey..mona had let me in. LOL

And then the Sammy moment happened…he was walking by to go do a radio interview…he stopped…looked at me….and just pointed and said…HEYYYY….and grabbed me to give me a hug. I was wearing my REDhead shirt…I genuinely think he saw that REDhead shirt and thought..hey..this is one of my people. He went on to do his interview…and that was about it. BUT..that hug was all that I needed.

Now..onto the show……the last concert I saw was at Cape Girardeau, MTM tour…..NOV, 1997. It just amazes me how each performance gets better and better. I thought nothing could top Cape…..but dang….this one blew me away. Victor was jamming…..Mona was rocking….she even did a bass solo!!!!!! She kicks some major ass!!!!! She has this new guitar…it
rocks…it’s pink with woody woodpecker on it. She was jamming….man…I just can’t say enough nice things about MONA…….she is the bomb!!!!!! Victor man…..I love that new look….the sideburns……you are the man!!!!! You were right on last night…solid jammin!!!

Speaking of new looks…..David is sporting a new look…he’s cut his hair a bit..not tooo much…..but it looks good. He was jamming too…did an awesome drum solo. And Jesse, well…what can I say..this man is always on target!!!! Gives me chills during RIGHT NOW…as always. Oh man….and I can’t forget Sammy!! Well, lets just say he gave 120% as usual!!!!!

So, there you have it…another stellar performance by Sammy and the
Waborita’s!!!

Thanks to Jenni for the set list and review!

Sandstone Amphitheatre

The Red Voodoo Tour

Just got back from KC this evening, & what an unforgettable Sammy weekend
it’s been!… and I’m so tired, but still pumped from last night’s concert!

We live in Oregon, but had won tix to RockFest via the radio station on the
internet. Eric’s parents live in Kansas, so it was a good excuse to go out
there, visit the in-laws, and have a Mas Tequila Weekend!
We had no problems flying out of Portland to Kansas City. After
spending 2 days with the in-laws… I was SO ready for a night of
Rock-n-Roll & partying Sammy style! Mike Russell posted an excellent review
of the show already, but I’ll elaborate on it some more. 🙂

Mike Russell & his date from Kansas, Deb & Chris Moore from Minnesota, and
Eric & I from Oregon all met up at a nearby pub, where we reminisced about
Cabo, told stories about our great Sammy adventures, shared pictures. Deb
made a “Minnesota” Red Head banner, and I made a “REDHEADS ARE HERE” banner.
Around 7:30, we decide to head to the venue. Mike got hooked up with a VIP
parking pass, so the 6 of us crammed into Eric’s “mom car” (Ford Taurus)
and cruised right into the VIP parking area, just steps away from the back
entrance to the ampitheatre… SWEET! I decided to try & sneak my Kodak
disposable camera in, but wasn’t sure if I could get away with it. I put it
in my bra… hoping no one would notice the square lump in between my
boobs.. lol! They had a male security checking males & a female checking
the girls. The security lady first made me shake out my banner & shirt,
then checked my purse, and made me stretch my arms out while she patted me
down. Luckily, I had my hands full all my stuff, and she didn’t notice the
camera obviously ( I thought) sticking out of from my chest..I was able to
get in with it!

The venue was HUGE! I’d guess about 18,000 people… most of whom were
already drunk, baked, & sunburned.. Rockfest was an all-day event with 13
bands. It had been a warm beautiful day so far. There were bikinis, beer
bellies, tattoos, and everything in between… Quite an ecclectic crowd!
We made our way to the front section, where Mike had only 4 seats in Row 4,
but graciously let Eric & I hang with them. Aren’t REDheads the best!! 🙂

The stage had the outside of the CaboWabo Cantina up as the backdrop for the
stage, and Collective Soul, and I’m assuming the rest of the bands that day,
were playing in front of it. Collective Soul was great. I had seen them
open up for Van Halen on the Balance tour, and they have really come a long
way. They were tight musically, but I couldn’t help being anxious for Sammy
to take the stage.

Finally… Sammy takes the stage, and suddenly a rush of people trying to
get up front. He’s wearing a white Cabo Wabo tank top and shorts. Looking
refreshed & happy.. and Aaaahhh.. that smile!! It just makes ya melt! The
stage setup was so cool! It really does make you wish you were in Cabo.
I’m speculating that his birthday bash this year will have a LOT of first
timers this year. I was wishing I was one of those “smiling happy people”
on stage for awhile… but then again… we were probably just as close to
him as they were, and we got to see the front of him the whole time, and
they were looking at his back most of the time (Not that that’s a *bad*
thing.. haha!)

Sammy noticed my banner a couple of times, and said “RedHeads Rule!” each
time. I held my RedHead shirt up too.. and he pointed at it & smiled at me.
Mona recognized us also, and smiled, pointed & waved a few times. It feels
great knowing you are noticed in a crowd of 18,000!

Anyway, you all know the banner stories by now… it sucked! First off,
Deb, Chris, and I were screaming at the jerkoffs that it’s her banner… she
made it. It has their names on it, for Pete’s sake! What the hell would
someone else want with a banner that has some stranger’s name on it?
Then…. with my banner, we were holding it up on & off during the show.. I
had it in my possession the entire show, and everyone around me knew it was
mine. At the end of the show, we successfully got it on stage. I was
psyched! He held it up, & pointed to us, & blew a kiss. I thought it was
obvious that Sammy was trying to throw it back right to me… but man.. did
we have a tug-o-war on our hands with 2 drunk bastards. They would NOT let
go.. even though there were 6 of screaming “It’s MY banner”. The guy
didn’t even know what a REDHEAD was……. wtf! Eric’s Marine instinct took
over, and he grabbed the guy by the neck.. needless to say, the guy let go
of it REAL quick. But that pissed off his buddy, who jumped the chair and
was getting in Eric’s face after it was all over. I got between the two..
and tried to calm things down, but this guy *really* wanted to fight. Eric
even apologized to get the guy to calm down, and said to just drop it, it’s
over, but to no avail. The guy was reaching over my shoulders to try to
get to Eric. Little did he know that my knee was inches away from his
crotch.. ready to take action if necessary. lol! I was able to pull Eric
away, and try to leave asap.. but again.. they guy caught up to us, and told
us that if Eric ever grabbed his neck again…there would be trouble…
Yeah, right.. like we’re ever gonna see this fart knocker again… So once
again, I detoured Eric away from the drunk, and we faded into the departing
crowd. Thanks to the other REDheads for sticking up for us! Luckily no
one got hurt.. and other than that.. it was a fantastic evening. 🙂

One other thing.. on the way home, we ran into a spectacular Mid West
thunder & lightning storm. It seemed to come out of nowhere! It was so
bad, I couldn’t see the lines in the road & had to slow down to 20 mph on a
70 mph freeway. Ah, the joys of living in the Mid-West! Thank goodness it
waited until AFTER the concert to storm! lol

Thanks to Mike Russell, Deb & Chis Moore for letting us sneak up to 4th row
with them! We owe ya one! And to Sammy & the Waboritas, thank YOU for an
excellent show! We’ll see you again in VEGAS baby!!!

Thanks to Lisa Chandler for the review and Andrew and Amy Boothe
for the set list!

Milwaukee Riverside Theatre

The Red Voodoo Tour

What a blast! : )

Preshow:  We met up with other REDheads a Giordano’s and got pumped
for the

show.  Signed the banner that Kerry made (cool banner, Kerry!!)
and drank

some Vit. T (thanks for the CW, Kerry!).  Kerry poured us a shot
in a water

glass and I bogarted the whole thing…payback for Niel and the neighbor

drinking the WHOLE bottle of CW a few weeks ago.  ; )

Arrived at the Riverside and was told that the show had been pushed
back to

8:00.  No big deal, but just thought I’d mention it.  They
were selling

Waboritas for $2.25.  They weren’t REAL (made with Margarita mix)
but they

had CWT!  : )

The Red Voodoo Tour

Niel and I were sitting in our seats in row W when just before the show
we

noticed that the row behind Kerry, Kari, Rhonda, etc. was nearly empty.
We

thought we’d take a chance and go stand up there.  No sooner had
we walked

into that row, the concert started – we had just ‘upgraded’ our tickets!

Wooo-hooo!

The show:  Alex did a great review….I’d just like to add or expend
on a few

things.

Rock Candy – OMG!!!  I don’t think I’ve EVER heard that song sound
SOOOOO

GOOD!!!!  Victor KICKS ASS!  That song was B-A-D!  Serious
bumping and

grinding on this one!  ; )

For all you droolers – Rock Candy, Shag, High and Dry, Whole Lotta Love,

Finish What Ya Started are *ALL* MAJOR drooling songs.  Sammy
is soooooooo

SEXY!  You gotta see it live, girls!  : )~~~

Both Sides Now – during this song, Sammy got the percussion ‘brush’
and was

smacking Mona on the rear.  He was laughing so hard that he couldn’t
sing.

Sammy screwed up words a few times during the show, but he was having
an

absolute BLAST up there!  He was laughing and joking and gave
the audience

the most sincere THANK YOU’s for coming to see him, for supporting
him thru

the years.  SAMMY IS THE MAN!!!

Cari – Sammy pulled her up on stage!  Woo-hooo!   I got
pictures!  He let her

sing Why Can’t This Be Love with him, then he gave her the mic, then
he come

up behind her and picked her up!!!!  There was some kissing and
hugging, then

Sammy got the mic back and sent Cari up on the risers.  ^5, GF!

Ron – What a shame…Ron’s 1st row seat was so close to the stage that
when

he sat he knees were against the stage.  I really feel for him.
That seat

was just too close to the stage.  ; )

Alex – I didn’t get to meet you.  Did I see you after the show?
If so, I

didn’t know it was you.  I was still on my Sammy High!  :
)

Security at the show was kinda on the strict side.  One chick was
saying

after the show that security had pulled the film out of her camera.
They

took Cari’s camera away during the show (did you ever get it back,
Cari?).  I

could see this security guy out of the corner of my eye when I was
standing

on the chairs druing MTM, but I just ignored him.  I was in the
middle of the

freaking row and he couldn’t reach me – hee hee.

*GASP!*  I almost forgot….Sammy was wearing a black CWT/RVD tank
with a

pair of olive green parachute material/swimming trunk(?) shorts.
A little on

the long side (c’mon Sammy, show us some thigh! LOL!) but at least
he’s in

the 90’s now! ; )  He also wore a Hawaiian-type shirt for part
of the

show…threw it out to the crowd at the end.  These guys in front
of us got

wicked over it.  I think the shirt ended up in about 3 pieces.

Somebody reached up and put $1 in Sammy pant’s (mmmmmm….he worked
for that

$1!) and he mentioned it…then people started throwing $ up on the
stage!

That was fun, but Sammy didn’t do a dance for us.  : (

Vic was stylin’ in his black pants (tight-fitting…musta had some Lycra
in

those babies!) with metal studs down the sides.  Pretty sharp,
Vic!  I think

Jim Morrison had a pair of those, but his were leather.  ; )
Vic had his

shirt unbottoned all the way down.  I gotta say it – Vic is hot.
Hi

Michelle!  : )  <—-lucky girl!

K…enuf typing for now.  I could go on and on.  Sammy gets
me charged up.

Can ya tell???  ; )

Can’t wait for SATURDAY!!!!!  WOOOO-HOOOOO!

Thanks to Julie for the review and Ron Higgins for the set list!
