Sunset Station

Mexican Meltdown Tour

Here’s what went down last night here in Vegas. I know this will be long, but
just think how long it would be if I remembered everything!!!!

The pre-party was GREAT!! A small bar right inside Sunset Station, the
Waboritas were flowing and the REDHEADS took over. It was great seeing people
who I hadn’t seen or talked to in a while and it’s always fun making new
REDHEAD friends. Especially when some are from my hometown of Pittsburgh.
Lisa, Lisa Anne, Kelly, Brenda, Eric and Cindy, Eddie and Alicia and so many
more I can’t remember. Everyone was in a fun-loving mood and ready for the
show. Except for the newlyweds…..

Lisa got a call during the party and Eddie and Alicia had gotten into a car
accident. Everyone was fine (thats the important part) and thats all the cops
cared about too. I felt sorry for them but I was happy to become their
chauffeur for the evening. We still had some laughs about it and then they
got the best wedding present of all time. Not only were they onstage for the
show but, Sammy was talking about Eddie and his…..(nevermind) and how he
had just gotten married and dedicated “The Love” to Eddie and Alicia!!!! That
was so cool I almost wanted to be married……ALMOST!!!

The show was great. It seemed like he played for a long time but I was having
too much fun to check my watch. Songs that stood out, I thought, were “Give
to Live,” “Eagles Fly,” “The Yogi’s So High,” “High and Dry,” and of course,
all of the classics. He didn’t play “Rock Candy,” or “Bad Motor Scooter,” but
it was still a great show. Especially, for me personally, during the
intermission……

My license plate on my car says….DRUNKY. It took about three calls a couple
of years ago to the Nevada DMV but, they gave me the plate and I wear it
proudly. For those of you who are wondering, I’ve only been pulled over once
since I’ve had it, and the cops never noticed it!!!! Anyway….

I got my buddy Jonny to make his way to the front to give my plate to Brenda
and he did. When Sammy took his normal break to teach all of us how to make
Waboritas (as if we didn’t know) Brenda started waving the plate around Sammy
noticed it. He stopped making his drink, which is amazing in itself, and
said, “That license plate will get you arrested!!!” He came over and got the
plate from Brenda and told everyone, “Hey check this out!” And he held MY
license plate over his head for all of Sunset Station to see!!!!!!! Yes, he
did sign it for me, yes I got pictures of it and yes, Brenda I will love you
forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and yes, he told me AGAIN that I had a job at Cabo
Wabo Vegas!!!!!! Hopefully in May, my sign…”Sammy, I want a job at Cabo
Wabo Vegas” will pay off.

Something’s I will remember about the show….A guys jumping on stage and
just as the cops were going to drag him away, Sammy made them stop. He gave
the guy the Waborita he made and then had him get in the rafters instead of
going to jail….that’s CLASS!!!!!! A kid who must’ve been 12, tops, rocking
out during the whole show in the rafters…….Finally getting to meet Thomas
and Gayle from CaboZone….No one being able to figure out if there is an
opening band or not….Lisa and Kelly will know this
one…”PIZZA…PIZZA!!!!” Inside joke…..The NO PIERCING policy after this
Vegas show….Seeing my new Pittsburgh friends on stage and being happy for
them cuz they traveled so far for the show…..Just seeing and getting caught
up with old friends and making new ones at the pre-party.

It was a great night at a Sammy show, as always. Thanks to Sammy and the
Waboritas for a memorable night…..as if we REDHEADS would expect anything
less.

ADDITIONAL REVIEW

We arrived Thursday morning and stayed at the MGM Grand. Hooked up
with fellow Redhead friends from Detroit/Ohio and spent Friday
sightseeing, including Hoover Dam. Saturday spent by the pool then went to the
pre-party and saw a few people I knew, met a few I didn’t. Went into the
concert, saw Kenny, got to get on stage…KENNY YOU ROCK! Tossed my
banner down to the stage and Sammy and Mona held it up. It was the one
that said THERE’S ONLY ONE WAY TO ROCK SAMMY & THE WABORITAS. Anyway,
the concert kicked ass…..I believe it was one of the best shows I’ve
ever seen…Sammy played for about 3 hours. Others have posted the set list and other events during the
show, no need to repeat. Sammy did ask us why we weren’t all at the
Madonna concert (at the MGM). LOL! Sammy came through the ‘cantina’
while singing Your Love is Driving Me Crazy and we all got to sing with
him. The show was standing room only, it was really cool to see the turn
out. We just got back home, and I’m pretty tired. I’ll see y’all the
next time Sammy plays Vegas. It was quite an experience.

Thanks to JT and Deb Moore for the review and Arland for the set list!

Rosemont Theatre

Mexican Meltdown Tour

Hello REDHeads!!!!!!!!!!

Man the quote the man “Sammy kicked my ass”

I dont know where to begin all I can say that being onstage was a blast. To
see and take everything in from the point of view was excellent. As for the
setlist I can tell you that he did do When the Hammer Falls down, Runaround,
The Love, opened with space station 5, Messed up Your love is driving me
Crazy Because he making his way threw the catina 🙂 But it was cool for him
to do Your Love because I had my sis with me and that was the first Sammy
song her and I ever sang.

Than he Did Give To Live thats the First Sammy song that spoke to me and it
was the first time that I heard him do it live thats my theme song and that
touched my heart so much. THANK YOU SAMMY!!!!!!!!

If you are A Hawks fan we defended you and made Sammy laugh we our “Detriot
Sucks” chant, It was rocking I dont know how Sammy does it evey night with
the same energy, David man you rock, Vic it was nice of you to come up and
play near us, Mona what can i say but girl you rock and thanks for saying hi
to me, Jesse the constant professional.

So my onstage moment well…….While we were waiting Mike could read his
setlist and he said Give to Live and Eagles fly so both Dawn and I were
beside oursleves. So Im ok I toss my Snoopy shirt before Give but I forgot to
so When Sammy was facing us I tossed and it landed on Davids cymbals and fell
so ok, Then he came up and I got my hug I had my droolers shirt on and my
name tag, and Snoopy sticker and I stood in front of him and looked him dead
in the sunglasses he said “Jan” and I got a big ole sweaty hug. So a Few
songs later he notices the Snoopy shirt with “his” sticker on it and his
horoscope for the day and he read it silently and spread it out in front of
Davids drum kit so when i did the march I almost forgot to look and thats
where i saw it. THANKS PAULA AND KENNY.

Nancy, Dawn and Mike, Peggy for making Tonight very special, Next week it
will be a year that Sammy read the chart that I did for him and now its come
full circle.

As for the pre party it was cool to meet more of the REDheads and share
stories etc. it was fun.

Im so out of words right now so Im sure someone else well put it into words
better than I can.

ADDITIONAL REVIEW

I couldn’t have said it better myself, and I actually earn a living trying to
put the right words together as a sportswriter for a newspaper in Green Bay.
Just got back to my brother’s place out in the Chicago suburbs before I head
back to cover the Packers’ game. I’m not as hoarse as I’ve been at previous
Sammy shows —- BLAME IT ON THAT STUPID POLICY AT ROSEMONT THEATRE
(hopefully, Sammy got wind of not being allowed to drink inside the place and
won’t consider going back there) — but I will go on record as saying this
show was the best of the big lot that I’ve seen the past three years. Besides
the quantity (some 25 songs) of music, I absolutely approved of the revised
set. When he blamed it on the Chicago fans for putting him to work by way of
rehearsing the new lineup, there was something genuine from THE MAN right
there. You did right by putting all the “Love” songs together, then going
with the ballads and, finally, ringing the ears of the nice, but older women
serving as ushers (they must not have been warned what was in store for them
when they volunteered to work) by jacking it up at the end with a triple shot
of I Can’t Drive 55, Mas Tequila and Heavy Metal. WOW, what a prelude to the
traditional encore. I was able to chat with Mona afterward, though she did
serve as a diversion out back for Sammy and the guys, who tried to sneak out
a different door. We caught up with him before he hopped in the van, and I
told him to rock St. Louis on Saturday. He said he would oblige, but, really,
we Cubs backers don’t want those despised Redbirds to get even half the
amount of electricity that was supplied to one and all in Rosemont. Thanks
Sammy, Mona, Vic, Jesse and David for yet another unforgettable couple hours
of pure ecstasy. Wish I could be there with you in Cabo next month, but
Packers duty calls. Will be waiting for you early next year for the next tour.

Thanks to Jan and Todd for the reviews!

Nautica

Mexican Meltdown Tour

Here’s my account of another wonderful evening with Sammy:
It was a dream come true… I had built a Dave Howard Custom guitar, to give to my longtime hero, Sammy Hagar. His management was so gracious to us, and I was allowed to give the guitar to Sammy, personally! We were onstage in the Cantina, and the show rocked, like every Sammy concert, I’ve been to in the last 15 years!!!

He opened up with Space Staion #5, then ripped through Shock-A-Doobie & Sympathy For The Human… then I was blown away when during Three Lock Box, Sammy ran off, stage right & came out RIPPING a solo on the guitar I’d given him earlier! He then went right into the anthem, There’s only One Way to Rock on it, also. I feel so honored that he played it!

Sammy wore a big curly blonde wig for a few songs,& a Browns jersey, and was as funny, energetic, and classy as ever. He is the ultimate entertainer!!! He played for a good 2 1/2 hours, and Came out and did a rousing version of Cabo Wabo for the encore, with the crowd singing at the top of their voices.

It was a night I’ll NEVER forget!!! And I’d like to thank Mark Litten, Rob Kern, Big Kenny, Paula Young, and especially the man, Sammy Hagar for making my dream come true & and being so wonderful to us. You guys are the GREATEST!!! “SEE YOU IN CABO ON THE 13TH!!!!!!” 🙂

ADDITIONAL REVIEW

As we sat with our friends in the bleachers on a beautiful night in Cleveland at Nautica in the Flats, my wife and I talked about how we’d be leaving for our trip to Cabo in about a month. We’ve been planning our trip since the end of 2000.

Sammy hit the stage following “The Real Deal” intro and jammed through “Shaka Doobie (The Limit),” which is my favorite song on “Ten 13.” We were all rocking.

The set list was very similar to the one used when the Waboritas hit the stage in nearby Akron, OH, back inJanuary. There were some differences, though. No”Ten 13″ or “Serious Juju,” and “Marching to Mars” was left out at the end, probably due to the fact that the Nautica stage is a bit cramped. I doubt the “conga line” with the fans on stage could have taken place. There were some nice additions to the set, especially “Your Love is Driving Me Crazy,” — the song that should never have been left off of “Unboxed.” Now, if I could just see Sammy perform “I’ve Done Everything For You” one of these days . . .

We had a great time, as we expected.

On a side note, as we drove home, I popped my “VOA” cassette in the car stereo. When the song “VOA” came on, I turned to my wife and said, “I love this song, but it’s kind of strange how it seems a little dated now” due to the references to the USSR.

Less than 36 hours later, that song had a renewed meaning. Due to the tragedies of 9/11/01, our trip to
Cabo may be canceled, but that is hardly important at a time like this. Our thoughts are with all who have been affected by the WTC, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania crashes. That includes Americans and citizens of the world.

And regardless of what happens in the upcoming weeks and months, may peace come to the world quickly.

Thanks to Dave Howard and Brian K for the reviews and Rob & Dawn for the set list!

Riverport Amphitheatre

Mexican Meltdown Tour

The St. Louis Melt-down, as always, riverport was sold out. 20 thousand red-heads ready to rock out with Sammy and his Waboritas. Sammy has played to sold out show in St. Louis in 1979… In 1979 St. Louis was Sammy’s first sell out of a major arena anywhere and his first head lining show in St. Louis.

Sammy is a tradition in St. Louis much line Budwiser, Cardinal Baseball, The Arch and Kshe 95…
The evening was extra special as St. Louis and Kshe 95 ‘Real Rock Radio’ would be celebrating it’s 34th Birthday concert. Kshe is the longest running rock station in the U.S. St. Louis requested Sammy to play this show, and as always he was at the rocking best.

The party started in the parking lot… tail gating is only permitted at Riverport when Sammy plays and thats no bull s!#$.

The party master unloaded the Kshe classic ‘Space Station #5’ to get the party going. The energy flowed all evening, as did his tequila and the busweiser. Sammy rocked out for more than two hours playing all his rock classics and anthems. The best song…Eagles Fly…in honor of Don Pruit who died of cancer, and lived near St. Louis.

As Sammy was hammering out ‘Mas Tequila’ and ‘Heavy Metal’ to the crowd’s delight the St. Louis sky-line errupted with thunder & lightning, strong winds and heavy rain. Sammy’s only encore was ‘Marching to Mars’ and St. Louis braved the rain until the last note was played.

ADDITIONAL REVIEW

Here’s the deal folks….Sammy has once again blessed us w/ his presence @ good ol’ St. Louis Riverport Ampitheatre. And I have to say that this show ABSOLUTELY was THE BEST one yet & I’ve been to every St. Louis show in the past 14 yrs.

Sammy was in top form as usual, rocking us w/ great classics such as When the Hammer Falls Down & Heavy Metal, all the way up to current hits including Deeper Kind of Love & Mas Tequila. 3 hours of pure rock n’ roll w/ the great REDROCKER himself.

Sammy & the Waboritas exhibited a newfound energy that I’ve never felt before. They gave 110% & then some. Not that that’s unusual at a Sammy show but there was something extra special about this years performance. IT ROCKED!!!!!!!!

Sammy brings absolute joy & happiness everytime he comes to town; it’s like nothing else in the world exists except you & Sammy & 15,000 other ‘up front fanatics’! I believe St. Louis fans proved their loyalty to Sammy by staying until the very end regardless of the heavy rain we got during show. And not everyone had the liberty of having shelter. Face it St. Louis loves & adores Sammy!!

Thanks to KSHE95 whose 34th Birthday was celebrated w/ Sammy; I got be in the onstage cantina. Talk about a dream come true. I finally got to see what Sammy sees everytime he hits the stage. Thousands of adoring fans, friends, & fellow REDheads all come together for one reason only….to have the greatest time possible!!

However, I was also fortunate enough to share a moment w/ the big guy Sammy himself. I got to stand next to him for a minute when he came through our cantina & boy let me tell you it was a dream come true! Unfortunately I was so awestruck I couldn’t speak a single word to him……so I stood there w/ the worlds biggest smile plastered on my face as I peered up into his eyes through my RED shades.

I can only hope that my goofy grin expressed the same sentiment that I chose to put into words here today. And that fact is…..ST. LOUIS & KSHE95 LOVES YOU SAMMY…..& SO DO I … ;0)

THANK YOU SAMMY!!!

Thanks to Rich Tracy and Christi for the reviews and JN’R Studios for the set list!
